The Bioinformatics Laboratory at the College of Computing, University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (bioinformatics.um6p.ma) is seeking a Bioinformatics Research Assistant to join our Plant Genomics Research Team.
The successful candidate will contribute to an ongoing research project investigating plant genomics and the molecular responses of plants to environmental stress. Responsibilities include the analysis and interpretation of large-scale genomic and transcriptomic datasets to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying key agronomic traits such as salt and heat tolerance, growth, and yield. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in plant bioinformatics within a dynamic and collaborative academic research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform bioinformatics analyses on plant genomic and transcriptomic datasets.
- Develop and maintain computational workflows for the analysis and integration of multi-omics datasets.
- Assist in identifying genes and molecular pathways associated with traits such as stress tolerance, growth, and yield.
- Collaborate closely with molecular biologists to interpret computational findings and guide experimental validation.
- Maintain proper documentation, data organization, and version control for all analyses.
Profil recherché :
Qualifications
- Masters degree or Engineering degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the field.
- Proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages.
- Experience analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, such as RNA-seq, WGS, or variant calling.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Prior experience contributing to research publications or technical reports.
