Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Process Engineer to join our team in the metallurgical and phosphate processing industry. As a Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role in advancing our organization's research and development efforts related to metallurgy and phosphate processing technologies. You will be responsible for running chemical pilot plants, analyzing data, and developing innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and product quality in our chemical processing operations.

Based in the OCP chemical complex in Jorf Lasfar, The Institute of Applied Research & Technology, IART, is an applied R&D center of UM6P that focuses on developing new technologies and scaling them up to bridge the gap between academia and industry. It serves national and international clients and is collaborating with key leaders in the field of applied R&D.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize chemical processes for industrial plants, ensuring they are efficient, safe, and economically viable.
  • Diagnose problems within chemical processes, whether related to equipment, materials, or procedures and Develop and execute plans to resolve process issues and enhance overall performance.
  • Implement safety protocols and conduct risk assessments to ensure processes adhere to safety standards and regulations.
  • Ensure that processes comply with environmental and industry regulations, including waste management and emissions controls.
  • Utilize process simulation and modeling software to predict process behavior and performance, which helps in designing and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee pilot-scale tests to validate process designs before full-scale production.
  • Lead the scale-up process from laboratory or pilot scale to full-scale production, addressing any issues that arise during scaling.
  • Gather and analyze data from processes to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings, progress, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with other engineers, scientists, technicians and production staff to ensure smooth operation and integration of processes.
  • Communicate process requirements, changes, and updates to management and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage projects related to process development, improvements, or troubleshooting, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide training and support to operators and other staff on new or modified processes and equipment.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and industry trends to incorporate innovative solutions into processes.
  • Contribute to intellectual property development through patent filings and publications in scientific journals.

Profil recherché :

Qualifications:

  • Diplome dingenieur detat, in process engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Hydrometallurgy or a related field from a school of engineering.
  • One to two years of experience in a chemical plant or pilot plants platform or related fields is a must.
  • Solid understanding of chemical processing principles, including, solid-liquid separation and liquid-liquid separation.
  • Experience in conducting laboratory-scale experiments and operating analytical instruments for material characterization is preferred.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and process modeling tools/software.
  • Knowledge of process optimization techniques, experimental design, and statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations governing the phosphate processing industry.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French, with the ability to prepare technical reports and present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
