About the Position
Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) seeks a dynamic postdoctoral researcher to join the AgroBioSciences (AgBS) program. You will conduct innovative research on soil microbiome characterization from African soils and participate in field surveys to generate samples for DNA extraction and sequencing analysis.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys from farmer fields to obtain soil samples and prepare maps of sampled areas
- Prepare soil samples for physico-chemical property measurements and isolate beneficial microorganisms
- Conduct greenhouse and field assays to validate microbial benefits and develop recommendations
- Analyze shotgun and amplicon sequencing data and prepare reports
- Prepare high-quality manuscripts for scientific publication
- Mentor master students and PhD candidates
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate in Agronomy, Soil Microbiology, or Soil Sciences
- Hands-on experience with bioinformatics tools and statistical analysis of field and sequencing data
- Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary research in soil microbiome and agronomy
- Strong publication record in relevant scientific journals
- Experience supervising undergraduate and graduate students
- Fluent in English and French, both written and verbal
