The ASARI Institute at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow in Plant Nutrition and Fertilization. The research focuses on phosphate rock integration with diverse cropping systems including legumes, cereals, grasses, and vegetables.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments to evaluate phosphate rock and fertilization strategies for soil fertility and crop productivity improvement
  • Perform detailed analyses of plant tissues, soils, and fertilizers using advanced analytical techniques to assess nutrient uptake and soil health
  • Collect, manage, and analyze experimental data using statistical software and modeling tools to draw meaningful conclusions
  • Prepare high-quality research papers for peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, agronomists, and environmental specialists on integrated soil fertility management systems
  • Supervise and mentor PhD students and research assistants, providing training on experimental techniques and scientific writing

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Plant Nutrition, Soil Science, Agronomy, Crop Science, or closely related field
  • Proven experience conducting field, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments in plant nutrition and soil fertility
  • Proficiency in soil and plant analysis techniques and statistical software (R, SAS, SPSS)
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; French or Arabic knowledge is advantageous
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural, interdisciplinary team environments

Working Conditions

Position based at ASARI Institute in Laayoune, Morocco, with potential fieldwork in marginal and desert agricultural regions. Initial appointment is for one year with possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
