About Rollee
Rollee is a data platform that helps financial institutions make better risk decisions by accessing verified income, employment, and alternative data directly from the source. We connect to gig platforms, government tax portals, payment platforms, and employment systems to transform information into structured, actionable data for income verification, risk modeling, fraud reduction, and underwriting decisions.
The Role
Join our Coverage team as a Backend Engineer Intern for 6 months. The Coverage team expands and maintains Rollee's ability to connect to employment and income data sources. You'll work on real production challenges involving web and mobile applications, third-party systems, APIs, authentication flows, and data extraction.
What You'll Do
- Build, maintain, and improve integrations with employment and income data sources
- Explore web and mobile applications to understand backend system communication
- Work with documented, partially documented, and undocumented third-party APIs
- Debug authentication flows, network requests, and data extraction processes
- Write clean, reliable, and maintainable Python code
- Contribute to testing, monitoring, and automation efforts
- Collaborate with engineers, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Frontend Developers
- Take ownership of work, iterate quickly, and learn from feedback
What We're Looking For
- Experience with Python through internships, projects, coursework, or professional work
- Hands-on experience with web scraping, automation, or data extraction
- Interest in exploring and debugging web and/or mobile applications
- Curiosity about HTTP, APIs, and application communication
- Self-learning mindset and appetite for challenging technical problems
- Strong interest in fintech, data, and financial inclusion
- Fluent English (we work 100% in English)
Nice to Have
- Experience with undocumented or partially documented APIs
- Network debugging and traffic analysis skills
- Knowledge of authentication and authorization mechanisms
- Familiarity with mobile/web application security and encryption
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, or DevOps practices
- Interest in software architecture and design patterns
