Business Development & Field Expert – Automotive Connectors

Role Overview

The Business Development & Field Expert is dedicated to multiple strategic accounts and located close to customer premises. You will identify customer needs and collaborate to develop new solutions and opportunities using existing or innovative technologies. This role manages design-in and development of new products, oversees seamless execution of sales and engineering projects, and serves as the interface between customers and TE Engineering Centers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Define new business opportunities for new and serial projects through RFI and RFQ processes
  • Identify and follow up on competition replacement opportunities and promote local production products
  • Act as primary technical contact for new technology products with local customers (OEM, Tier-1, etc.)
  • Function as technical interface between customer engineers and TE engineering community on existing and new product development
  • Conduct technical support meetings, training, workshops, and benchmarking activities for automotive products
  • Analyze customer needs and propose product modifications or new developments to R&D Engineering
  • Establish relationships with key customer engineering contacts and decision makers
  • Identify emerging marketplace trends and communicate to Sales, Marketing, and Engineering departments
  • Organize and present interconnect solutions highlighting key performance features and benefits
  • Report design activity, customer project status, and action plans monthly
  • Attend trade shows, exhibitions, and standards organization meetings
  • Assist in new product introductions as resident engineer expert for automotive segment

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree (Mechanical preferred); Engineering School background preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in electro-mechanical component manufacturing
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong problem-solving, strategic and tactical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Automotive connector experience strongly preferred
  • Good exposure to automotive OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers
  • Knowledge of trends, competition, and technology influencing products and sales
