Busser at Shores Restaurant - La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club

Position Summary

Join the dynamic team at La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, Inc. as a Busser at Shores Restaurant. You will assist servers in providing friendly and professional service to members and guests at our oceanfront dining venue. This role is essential to ensuring an exceptional dining experience and supporting the dining room team.

Main Responsibilities

• Collect and dispose of reusable items, waste materials, and leftover food; separate waste into proper containers and move reusable materials to kitchen or storage
• Inspect, sort, and organize items at dish cleaning and linen collection areas according to type, size, condition, and other characteristics
• Set tables as required and provide drinking water; refurbish beverages upon guest or server requests
• Anticipate guest needs and provide genuinely friendly, attentive, professional service
• Maintain all service and restaurant areas; complete assigned side work duties including preparation, setup, and closing prerequisites
• Provide room service to hotel guests, pick up trays, and assist servers in attending to guests' needs

Required Qualifications

• Less than high school education or up to one month of related experience
• Fluent English communication ability with customers and team members
• Must obtain and maintain current San Diego County Food Handlers card and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification
• Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, use hands to handle objects, and reach with hands and arms
• Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds constantly and up to 25 pounds frequently, including heavy food trays

Work Environment

This position operates in a fast-paced restaurant environment with moderate to loud noise levels. You will work seven days a week with rotating shifts. The role involves occasional exposure to wet and humid conditions, hot equipment, and sharp objects. Daily interaction with managers, supervisors, service and kitchen personnel, and customers is required.
