Capacity Building Manager - Agricultural Training & Development

The African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) launched by UM6P in Laayoune in 2020 focuses on several research and development programs including biosaline agriculture, native species valorisation, camel value chain, water and renewable energy. The institute consists of a multidisciplinary team to respond to regional challenges affecting marginal environments.

Job Summary

The Capacity Building Manager will work with project leads and donors to develop and design training programs suitable for relevant areas, including developing budgets, timelines and curricula, selecting beneficiaries, and coordinating training implementation for farmers, technicians, engineers, and students.

Main Responsibilities

• Work closely with project leads and assist in day-to-day activities including programming of capacity building activities
• Organize and conduct project inception, midterm, and wrap-up workshops, as well as scientific events such as conferences
• Prepare schedules for field demonstrations, surveys and training programmes, including identification of local partners and farmers
• Coordinate all educational activities related to training programs such as graduate and post-graduate programs, executive education, and certifications
• Prepare quarterly work plans in consultation with stakeholders, project leads, implementing partners, and donors
• Support development of communication and partnership arrangements and coordination mechanisms between partners, farmers and cooperatives
• Elaborate training related reports, brochures and publications

Required Qualifications

Essential:

• Advanced degree (Engineer, Master) in agricultural development and related subjects with field experience at local and national levels
• Experience in planning, implementation and monitoring of agriculture programmes
• Experience in knowledge management and communication
• Workable Arabic and English language skills
• Experience working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
• Well-developed oral and written communication skills

Desirable:

• Working knowledge of statistics and database management
• Additional language skills in English and French
• Supervisory experience

Additional Information

The candidate will help maintain field and laboratory equipment, order supplies, and maintain research plot records. Responsibilities involve frequent travelling to different experimental platforms and farmers fields at national and international level.
