The Role

As a Compliance Operations Lead, you will be the operational bridge between the Head of Compliance, Operations, and the analyst team. You will handle complex and ambiguous compliance cases, ensure consistent decision-making, and maintain well-documented, defensible compliance processes. This role offers flexibility—you can manage the analyst team directly or serve as a senior individual contributor and first point of escalation, depending on your preference.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the first escalation point for complex KYB, KYC, and enhanced due diligence cases before they reach the Head of Compliance
Review and QA analyst decisions including risk ratings, evidence, and disposition notes to ensure completeness and defensibility
Set and track team SLAs and KPIs: case aging, turnaround times, QA findings, and rework rates
Build and maintain SOPs, escalation templates, and case documentation standards as the team scales
Manage sanctions, PEP, and adverse media escalations, including false-positive review and evidence retention
Support transaction monitoring by identifying unusual payout patterns, rapid onboarding, and high-risk activity

Required Qualifications

5+ years in compliance operations, AML/financial crime, sanctions, or payments compliance
Experience in regulated financial services: licensed money transmitter, payment institution, bank, PSP, fintech, card/spend platform, or marketplace
Ability to make sound judgments on ambiguous cases with incomplete documents or unclear business activity
Strong written communication skills for case notes, escalation summaries, and partner responses

Preferred Qualifications

Experience managing, mentoring, or QA'ing compliance analysts
CAMS or CFCS certification
Arabic fluency
