Senior Manager, AI Software Engineering

About the Role

Join BCG X as a Senior Manager in AI Software Engineering, leading cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise-scale AI-native software solutions. You will combine deep software engineering expertise with modern AI development practices, leveraging platforms like Harness, cloud technologies, and AI coding agents to accelerate delivery from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and enable software and AI engineering teams across the full product lifecycle—from discovery and architecture through development, testing, deployment and optimization
• Drive adoption of AI-native development practices, modern engineering platforms and emerging technologies to improve velocity, quality and developer productivity
• Manage technical oversight including design reviews, feasibility assessments, budgeting and timelines for enterprise-grade software applications
• Build high-performing, inclusive engineering culture that encourages innovation, experimentation and responsible AI adoption while maintaining excellence standards
• Lead teams of 20+ cross-functional resources across geographically distributed teams, managing hiring, talent development, performance and retention
• Serve as trusted advisor to consulting teams and stakeholders on software development, architecture and delivery topics

Required Technical Skills

• AI-native software engineering: hands-on experience with Generative AI, AI coding assistants, agentic development tools, LLM-based applications and RAG
• Modern software engineering: strong proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, Unix/Linux environments, Git and modern development practices
• Full-stack development: experience with React, Angular, Vue, FastAPI, Flask, Django or Node.js for scalable applications
• Cloud and platform engineering: AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, Docker/Kubernetes, Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
• CI/CD and DevSecOps: enterprise platforms like Harness, GitHub Actions, Jenkins or CircleCI with automated testing and continuous delivery
• Data platforms and APIs: SQL, NoSQL, Graph databases, REST API design and scalable data services
• Quality engineering: automated testing frameworks (Pytest, Jest, Mocha) and AI-assisted software quality approaches
• Engineering architecture: designing secure, resilient, highly scalable applications with observability and production operations expertise

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Significant software engineering and engineering management experience, including leading 20+ cross-functional resources and delivering enterprise products
• Demonstrated experience driving adoption of Generative AI and AI-assisted development to improve delivery velocity and quality
• Strong understanding of engineering culture, talent development, performance management and organizational leadership in large-scale environments
• Proven ability to operate in dynamic, ambiguous environments while balancing priorities and maintaining focus on outcomes and execution
• Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills with ability to engage engineers, product leaders, consultants and executives
• Strong Agile, Scrum, Kanban and DevSecOps expertise with track record of delivering complex programs with excellence
• Experience establishing engineering standards, governance and AI guardrails while enabling rapid experimentation
