E&S Senior Consultant
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a full-time professional to join our dynamic and growing organisation in Morocco.
The successful candidate will work daily with financial institutions focused on making an impact alongside their returns in emerging markets. Many of these institutions are at the forefront of embedding sustainability in their day-to-day approach to business.
The ideal candidate has experience in the ESG and Sustainable Finance space. The role is dynamic and requires managing multiple workstreams and priorities at the same time, so an effective communicator and project manager with a strong work ethic and a proactive, can-do attitude is essential.
Role responsibilities
- Leading and managing environmental and social (E&S) due diligence and project independent monitoring in emerging markets, including Morocco
- Participating in the development of E&S Management Systems, delivery of E&S training and capacity building, and other E&S strategy advisory work for financial institutions (TCFD, 2x Challenge, Paris Agreement, etc.)
- Applying innovation to E&S services, including the use of technology in areas such as land acquisition, human rights, carbon and climate change, ESG reporting and disclosure, job quality, gender impact investing and green finance
- Working with banks, funds and other investors, and with subject matter experts to develop tools, distil insights and build guidance and strategies for clients
- Managing project leadership and day-to-day deliverables, including resourcing, site visit planning, financial management and client liaison
- Developing business and sales with new and existing clients, preparing proposals and marketing materials, building stakeholder relationships, and enhancing technical service offerings
- Recruiting, mentoring and coaching team members to their highest potential
Requirements
- Experience delivering medium, large and complex due diligence assessments in emerging markets across a wide range of sectors, with familiarity with IFC Performance Standards and Equator Principles
- Site-based experience in sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, renewables, finance and power
- Ability to conduct E&S related training
- Ability to analyse and interpret technical information, articulate ESG risks, opportunities and commercial implications, and propose pragmatic solutions
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for sustainability
- Excellent grasp of French, English and Arabic, including writing
- Experience and skills to supervise project teams and coach and mentor junior staff
- Excellent attention to detail, focus on high quality outputs, and strong people skills across geographies and cultures
