Postdoctoral Researcher - Process Mineralogy and AI-Driven Mineral Processing Optimization
Généré automatiquement par Postule AI à partir de l’offre.
Position Overview
Join an exciting postdoctoral research project at the intersection of process mineralogy, mineral processing, and artificial intelligence. This 12-month position (renewable for an additional 12 months) is a collaboration between the Geology and Sustainable Mining Institute (UM6P, Morocco) and Mineral-X (Stanford University, USA), focused on improving phosphate recovery from flotation tailings.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct process-mineralogical characterization of feed, concentrate, and flotation tailings
- Test and evaluate the effectiveness of different grinding energies on phosphate liberation
- Develop an AI-driven intelligent framework to optimize grinding time and enhance phosphate liberation while minimizing slime generation
- Design and execute laboratory flotation tests to optimize process parameters
- Lead research activities and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across institutions
Required Qualifications
- PhD in process mineralogy, mineral processing, mining, chemical or geological engineering, or related field with mining/mineral processing experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of process mineralogy and froth flotation through research, coursework, or professional experience
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Julia with specific examples of past work
- Experience with statistical modelling and experimental design
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Context
Process mineralogy is essential for diagnosing and improving ore processing flowsheets. Flotation performance depends on intrinsic parameters (reagent types, dosages, solid concentration, air flow rate) and extrinsic parameters (particle size distribution, mineral liberation degree, mineral associations, surface properties). Comprehensive mineralogical analysis of tailings is critical to understand phosphate distribution and relationships with gangue minerals.
Application Requirements
- Cover letter summarizing research interests and qualifications
- CV with publication list and research projects
- Contact information for one reference
