Your Mission
You will support Glovo's African markets in day-to-day business activities such as negotiating contracts and providing comprehensive advice on corporate and commercial matters. You will navigate regulatory complexities, ensure compliance, and enable innovation while addressing challenges such as evolving laws, labour issues, and data privacy. This role requires legal expertise, adaptability, and a problem-solving mindset.
Main Responsibilities
- Regularly report to Glovo's General Counsel on all legal matters of the Africa region
- Commercial: Elaborate, review and analyze all types of commercial agreements for the Africa region. Handle contractual and commercial implications including privacy, compliance, labor, and licenses. Manage business operations and align guidelines across all African countries
- Compliance: Implement policies, procedures and internal controls. Contribute to compliance reporting per regulatory requirements. Identify, mitigate, and assess criminal risks and monitor Crime Prevention Models
- Labor: Provide legal operational and strategic support to African teams (Ops and HR). Participate in strategic elaboration of litigations and proceedings
- Corporate: Participate in due diligence, evaluate risks, elaborate corporate documentation, implement corporate governance policies, and support M&A projects
- Privacy: Promote legal awareness throughout local businesses and actively participate in privacy projects to implement best practices
- Regulatory, antitrust and consumer law: Provide legal advice and ensure compliance with regulations applicable to Glovo's business
Required Qualifications
- At least 10 years' experience in the legal department of a company and/or reputed law firm/big4
- Solid experience working in Africa for a preferably international business
- Law Degree
- Excellent English language skills
- Ability to navigate across multiple geographies and cultures, and coordinate with all areas within the organization
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Highly motivated in the world of start-ups and new technologies
- Problem solver with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Able to summarize complex matters in simple but complete and accurate recommendations
- International profile, able to work in a flexible, collaborative and multidisciplinary environment
- High energy and creativity, with an entrepreneurial spirit
