Postdoctoral Researcher - Climate Services for Agricultural Risk Reduction and Adaptation

About the Position

The International Water Research Institute (IWRI) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join the climate modeling and services team. You will develop and deliver user-tailored climate services to support risk reduction and agricultural adaptation in Morocco and the African region.

Main Responsibilities

• Evaluate and select climate models for climate service development
• Organize user consultation meetings and workshops to define tailored products and services
• Define, develop, produce, and assess climate products and services
• Contribute to the development and setup of the climate service platform
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across UM6P-IWRI and partner institutions
• Prepare scientific articles, reports, and presentations for international conferences
• Manage research projects, write funding proposals, and coordinate with partners

Required Qualifications

• PhD in atmospheric sciences, agriculture sciences, or closely related field
• Strong expertise in agroclimatology and climate services for agriculture, preferably in Africa
• Excellent knowledge of Moroccan and African climate systems
• Deep understanding of African agriculture and its climate dependence
• Experience in climate model assessment and data processing
• Strong programming background and HPC (High Performance Computing) skills
• Advanced knowledge of statistical methods and tools
• Experience with AI/machine learning methods
• Fluency in French and English (written and verbal)
