About the Role
As Manager, Business Development for Mastercard Direct Services (MCDS) in Africa, you will drive partnerships and commercialization across the Africa Division. You will manage and grow relationships with key financial institutions, neo banks, and digital payment providers, playing a central role in expanding Mastercard's payment ecosystem in emerging and high-growth markets.
Major Responsibilities
- Enter and grow new strategic markets with emerging customer bases, identifying expansion opportunities
- Serve as primary point of contact for assigned partners and build a robust partner pipeline
- Develop and execute account plans aligned with partner business priorities and Mastercard's strategic goals
- Identify and drive opportunities to grow Mastercard's acceptance, transaction volume, and revenue across partners
- Monitor performance metrics and KPIs; proactively address gaps and recommend improvements
- Advocate Mastercard's products, value-added services, and innovation initiatives to ensure successful deployment and adoption
About You
Experience & Education:
- Bachelor's degree in business or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years of related work experience, preferably in financial services
- Experience in specialist sales, product management, product development, and project management
Key Skills & Abilities:
- Expert-level knowledge of financial institutions, payments, and industry-specific products and services
- In-depth experience executing business development strategies in emerging and complex markets
- Proven track record achieving business development targets and building customer relationships
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills; comfortable negotiating at senior management level
- Self-starter with strong work ethic, highly organized, able to work autonomously and collaboratively
- Open-minded and creative; comfortable with uncertainty and driving change in fast-paced environments
