About the Role
Join Harmattan AI's Airframe team as a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop UAV platforms and subsystems in a fast-paced, autonomous environment. You will own projects from concept through production, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and manufacturability of mission-critical defense systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype UAV platforms and complex subsystems, balancing durability, efficiency, and performance requirements.
- Manage system-level constraints including thermal management, mass budgeting, cost optimization, and environmental sealing specifications.
- Collaborate with R&D teams (Electrical, Software, Industrialisation) to integrate sensors, payloads, and electronics seamlessly.
- Conduct rigorous testing including stress and failure analysis; develop validation tools for extreme environment operation.
- Oversee manufacturing processes with suppliers, focusing on plastic injection moulding and precision machining quality.
- Maintain technical documentation in Confluence and create professional 2D/3D designs to support knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience designing and prototyping mechanical systems in UAVs, robotics, or defence applications.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and structural/thermal analysis tools (FEA).
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes: high-precision machining and plastic injection moulding.
- Excellent technical communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
