Key Responsibilities
Research Activities
- Develop independent research programs in powder metallurgy including extractive approaches (hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy) and innovative techniques to manufacture metals from powders (3D printing, sand molding, etc.)
- Align research programs with the Metallurgy Cluster roadmap, focusing on alloy development, metal processing, or materials characterization
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences
- Pursue research funding through grant proposals
Teaching Activities
- Supervise graduate students working on master's or PhD theses in metallurgical engineering or related disciplines
- Provide academic advising to students, helping them select courses, pursue internships, and develop career paths
Academic and Industry Partnerships
- Establish collaborations with faculty, research institutions, and industries to promote interdisciplinary research and technology transfer
- Engage with industry partners to align research projects with industry needs, fostering potential for industrial applications and commercialization
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a closely related field
- Strong foundation in powder metallurgical processes, physical metallurgy, and materials characterization
- More than 5 years of experience in the powder metallurgy field (PhD, postdocs, industrial or academic experience)
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research in powder metallurgy, with a proven track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate courses in metallurgy, materials science, or related fields
- Commitment to pedagogical innovation and ability to mentor and engage students in active learning
