Position Summary:
We are seeking a research assistant to join our team and contribute to research in phytomanagement and phytoremediation of mining waste. This position is part of a multidisciplinary research project focused on the ecological rehabilitation of degraded mining soils. The in-depth study of local flora and its ecological functions is central to the sustainable revegetation of technosols.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct phytoecological studies in mining sites and their surrounding areas.
- Characterize local plant species in terms of morphology, ecology, and functional traits.
- Participate in the analysis of stress tolerance (salinity, drought, heavy metals) of collected species.
- Contribute to the selection of plant species suitable for revegetation and phytoremediation.
- Assist in vegetation mapping and updating the floristic database.
- Work closely with researchers to interpret results and contribute to report writing.
Profil recherché :
Candidate Profile:
- PhD or Masters degree (preferably), in plant biology, plant ecology, botany, biotechnology, environmental sciences, or agronomy.
- Skills in floristic inventory, functional trait analysis, and ecophysiology.
- Field experience in arid or degraded environments is highly valued.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong teamwork and collaborative problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills:
- Familiarity with GIS and mapping tools.
- Strong writing skills (reports, publications).
- Drivers license preferred for field travel.
