About the Role
Join the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMaT-RC) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in a collaborative project with MIT to develop multifunctional bio-sourced hydrogels for agricultural applications. You will work under the supervision of Professor Youssef Habibi, converting locally abundant biomass into high-value components through sustainable pathways.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct hands-on hydrogel formulation and biopolymer processing with rigorous testing for performance and reliability
- Design, fabricate, and characterize porous materials using analytical, spectroscopic, and microscopic techniques
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams including chemists, polymer specialists, and engineers
- Maintain detailed experimental records and draft technical reports, research papers, and conference presentations
- Contribute to proposal writing and seek external funding opportunities for research projects
- Supervise undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students; travel to the United States for short-term work assignments
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in chemistry, polymer science, materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields
- Hands-on experience in hydrogel formulation and biopolymer processing
- Strong background in developing porous materials with design, fabrication, and characterization expertise
- Proficiency with analytical, spectroscopic, and microscopic techniques
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Demonstrated ability to supervise graduate and doctoral students
