Verification & Validation Engineer – Railway Signalling Systems (ETCS/ERTMS)

About the Role

As a Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and coordinating V&V activities for safety-critical onboard signalling systems used in ETCS/ERTMS railway applications. You will ensure that system requirements are correctly implemented, tested, validated, and compliant with railway safety standards throughout the V-cycle development process.

Key Responsibilities

• Verification Activities: Review and analyze system, software, and hardware requirements; ensure requirements are clear, testable, traceable, and compliant with project standards; participate in requirements and design reviews; maintain requirement-to-test traceability.
• Validation Activities: Define validation strategies, test plans, and test procedures; create and execute functional, integration, regression, and system-level tests; validate EVC3 functionalities against ETCS/ERTMS specifications; support customer acceptance and project validation milestones.
• Test Execution & Analysis: Execute tests on EVC test benches and simulation environments; analyze test results and identify anomalies; raise, track, and verify defect corrections; produce validation reports and test documentation.
• Project Coordination (PRIME Role): Lead and coordinate V&V activities within the project; interface with System, Software, Hardware, Safety, and Project teams; monitor V&V progress, risks, and deliverables; support project reviews and technical decision-making.

Required Technical Skills

• Knowledge of ERTMS/ETCS signalling systems and EVC (European Vital Computer) architecture
• Experience with V-cycle development process and safety-critical systems
• Proficiency with requirement management tools (e.g., DOORS) and test management tools
• Linux environment and scripting/automation (Python preferred)
• Configuration and test bench management
• Embedded software testing experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Railway Systems Engineering, or Embedded Systems
• Proven experience in Verification & Validation, railway signalling, safety-critical systems, or embedded software testing
