Position Overview

The Lead Primary Engineer in High Voltage Substation is responsible for ensuring the proper performance of design works within committed budgets, deadlines, and quality standards. This role guarantees customer satisfaction while promoting ease of installation, operation, and maintenance of substation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the complete High Voltage Substation design including general layout, sections, HV cable routing, and civil work coordination
  • Develop bill of quantities (BOQ), technical specifications, and data sheets for equipment and materials
  • Select HV substation components including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, conductors, insulators, and associated equipment based on project requirements
  • Collaborate with Protection, Control & Automation (PCA) Engineers to ensure primary and secondary system integration
  • Coordinate with Civil/Structural Engineers on foundation design, cable trenches, equipment plinths, and building requirements
  • Interface with MEP Engineers for auxiliary systems including HVAC, lighting, fire suppression, and drainage
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for internal teams, clients, and third-party stakeholders on primary design matters
  • Ensure compliance with updated regulations and standards throughout the design process

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 3 years of engineering experience in HV substations and energy sector within project and EPC environments
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% within MEA, Europe, and other regions for short to medium periods as required

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of project organization and engineering processes related to substation design scope
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; experience with Revit, BIM360, and ACC is a plus
  • Experience with design reviews, gate reviews, and formalized design management processes
