Food Server / Food Runner

Join the dynamic team at La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, Inc., a prestigious oceanfront hospitality group featuring the iconic La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, La Jolla Shores Hotel, and the internationally acclaimed Marine Room. We are seeking a dedicated Food Server to coordinate communication between servers and kitchen staff, ensuring proper timing and exceptional service delivery.

What You'll Do

  • Relay orders to the kitchen and serve courses from kitchen and bars to patrons
  • Ensure all dishes are garnished according to kitchen manager standards before service
  • Observe diners to respond to additional requests and determine when meals are completed
  • Assist with removal of china, glassware, and silverware from the dining room
  • Perform food preparation tasks including ladling soup, tossing salads, and brewing coffee
  • Clear and reset tables at the conclusion of each course and complete all closing duties
  • Obtain and maintain valid San Diego County Food Handlers and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certifications

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a bus person (required) and food runner experience (preferred)
  • Previous experience working in a fine dining restaurant (required)
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school, or 3-6 months related experience
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate clearly with customers and staff
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds frequently, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
  • Consistently provide professional, attentive, and genuinely friendly service
  • Commitment to following LJBTC, Inc's Signature Service standards

Working Conditions

This is a fast-paced fine dining environment. You will work on-site with rotating shifts across seven days a week. The role involves standing for extended periods, working near hot equipment, and occasional exposure to wet conditions and kitchen hazards. Shifts may be adjusted based on business needs.
