Role Overview
The Test Specification Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end definition and maintenance of test specifications, ensuring full traceability between requirements, test design, and validation results within complex automotive systems, with a focus on steering systems and ECU testing.
Main Responsibilities
- Analyze system, software, and safety requirements (ASIL relevant where applicable)
- Create high-quality test specifications and test cases for HiL, SiL, and vehicle-level testing
- Ensure end-to-end traceability from requirements through test cases, execution, to results
- Review and optimize existing test specifications; perform coverage analysis
- Support test strategy definition and refinement; align with stakeholders across Germany, OEMs, and suppliers
- Independently create test specifications with strong documentation discipline
Required Expertise
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in ECU testing, steering/braking systems, or vehicle control systems
- Experience working with European OEMs (Volkswagen preferred)
- Proficiency in test design methodologies: boundary value analysis, equivalence classes, state-based testing
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 functional safety basics and ASIL understanding
- Proficiency with tools: CANoe, CANalyzer, IBM DOORS/Polarion/Codebeamer, vTESTstudio
- Competency with MS Office, Project, JIRA, Confluence, Python (basic level), and Excel-based test management
Languages
- English: Professional working proficiency (mandatory)
- German: Strong asset
