The Role
As part of BCG X, you will work closely with consulting teams on a diverse range of advanced topics. You will leverage software development methodologies to deliver value to BCG's Consulting & BCG X teams, BCG X Product teams, and Practice Areas through providing software developer subject matter expertise and accelerated execution support. You will collaborate with teams to gather requirements, specify, design, develop, deliver, and support software solutions serving client needs. Assignments will range from short-term Proof of Concepts/Minimum Viable Products to long-term cases with enterprise-grade software development.
Key Responsibilities
Web Application Development
- Lead end-to-end high-scale web development including architecting, design, planning, development, and deployment
- Maintain a strong knowledge base of new open-source tech stacks, applications, techniques, and skills
- Create robust proprietary code and translate business logic into project requirements
- Develop code using development best practices with an emphasis on security
- Leverage technologies to support business needs to attain high reusability and maintainability
- Provide system design recommendations based on technical requirements
- Write effective unit tests and integration tests to ensure high-quality software delivery
Business Requirement Gathering and Collaboration
- Collaborate with project team members in drafting prioritized business requirements documentation, including scope definition and statement of work
- Work with project stakeholders to identify business needs and gather requirements for web application development
- Manage teams on projects while working with case teams, ensuring execution and being responsible for overall quality
- Lead communication and manage workflow to ensure the consulting team's satisfaction
- Establish yourself as a go-to expert for consulting/topic teams; guide consulting teams in selecting a development approach
- Serve as the brand ambassador for web development in BCG (Proposals, Demos, PoCs, Networking with case teams)
- Deliver original analysis and insights to case teams, typically owning all or part of an engagement
- Communicate insights through sophisticated synthesis and packaging of results (including PPT slides and charts)
- Contribute to team's content and IP development
- Assist in designing the onboarding schedule and provide day-to-day apprenticeship and coaching for software engineers
Required Technical Skills
- Strong experience in building high-performance web applications using NodeJS, Python + Flask, Django, React, Angular, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
- Expertise in SQL-Postgres for best performance
- Proficiency with Unix command-line tools and code repo Git
- Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools
- Knowledge of Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Cloud infrastructure architecture design (AWS, Azure, GCP) and deployment
- Strong understanding of OOPs concepts, design patterns, responsive UI, and unit testing frameworks like Mocha, Jest, Jasmine
- Knowledge of Bootstrap, Material UI, or Ant Design
- Track record of designing, developing, and supporting highly scalable, responsive web applications and services
- Understanding of UI integration with REST APIs
Additional Technical Knowledge
- Workable knowledge of TypeScript, NoSQL Databases like MongoDB, Hybrid Mobile app development using React Native or Ionic
- Experience with asynchronous programming and its quirks and workarounds
- Familiarity with charting libraries like HighCharts, D3.js, and Recharts
- Basic wireframing skills
- Familiarity with C# + .NET Core / .NET Framework
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science engineering/technology or equivalent
- At least 5-9 years of end-to-end web application/tool development experience in a commercial setup, specifically services or consulting organization
- Excellent communication skills and storytelling
- Additional weightage for contributions made to open source projects, blogs, forums, etc. in relevant technologies
