Position Overview

TransPerfect seeks an experienced Language Lead to translate and proofread Life Science documents from English into Simplified Chinese (China). This is a remote, client-facing role combining linguistic expertise with quality management and team coordination responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Quality Management

  • Serve as the primary linguistic point of contact for clients, representing TransPerfect professionally
  • Review and investigate client complaints and quality issues, determining root causes and providing documented corrective actions
  • Maintain language quality standards across projects and manage language assets (translation memories, glossaries, style guides)

Project & Team Coordination

  • Collaborate with Project Managers to understand project requirements, scope, timelines, and client expectations
  • Manage and mentor a team of linguists, assigning work and ensuring adherence to quality standards

Linguistic Delivery

  • Translate and proofread Life Science documents, including CTD Quality, CTD Non-Clinical, and CTD Clinical materials, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance

Required Qualifications

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Simplified Chinese (China)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent client communication and complaint-handling skills
  • Ability to manage, mentor, and provide feedback to other linguists
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills

Education & Experience Requirements

Candidates must meet at least ONE of the following:

  • Degree in Translation, Linguistics, Language Studies, or equivalent with significant translation training
  • 2+ years professional translation experience plus a college degree
  • 5+ years professional translation experience without a college degree
  • Translation competence certificate from an appropriate government authority

Preferred Experience

  • Academic background in pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, or biochemistry
  • Experience translating regulatory or pharmaceutical documents
  • Familiarity with CTD structure, terminology, and CMC technical content
  • Prior experience in a lead, reviewer, or quality management role
  • Experience with CAT tools and language asset management
