Job Overview
Supports quality assurance activities within manufacturing, focusing on real-time defect prevention and problem resolution.
Responsibilities
Quality Control
- Maintain and develop the Quality Management according to IATF 16949.
- Conduct regular inspections of injection molding processes to ensure adherence to established quality standards.
- Perform visual inspections of molded parts for defects such as air pockets, warping, or surface imperfections.
- Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensional accuracy of molded components.
- Implement statistical process control (SPC) techniques to monitor process variability and identify trends indicative of potential quality issues.
Defect Analysis and Root Cause Investigation
- Investigate root causes of quality issues, including analyzing process parameters, material properties, and tooling conditions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, and maintenance to identify and address root causes of defects.
- Implement corrective actions such as adjusting process parameters, modifying tooling, or updating work instructions to prevent recurrence of defects.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of quality inspection results, defect analysis, and corrective actions taken.
- Generate reports summarizing key quality metrics such as defect rates, scrap rates, and process capability indices.
- Communicate quality performance metrics to relevant stakeholders and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Propose and implement process improvements to optimize injection molding parameters, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in injection molding technology, materials, and quality management systems.
Training and Development
- Provide training and guidance to production operators on quality standards, inspection techniques, and defect prevention strategies.
- Foster a culture of quality consciousness among team members by promoting awareness of the importance of quality in all aspects of manufacturing.
What your background should look like
- Master's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in quality control within an injection molding manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex problems and implement effective solutions.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and quality tools such as FMEA, Pareto analysis, and DOE.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and precision in quality inspections and documentation.
- Experience with statistical analysis software (e.g., Minitab) is a plus.
- Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing is desirable.
