Role Overview
As Senior R&I Project Manager, you will lead research and innovation initiatives, managing collaborative projects from conception through technology transfer to business units. You will drive open innovation activities, partner with external stakeholders, and ensure intellectual property protection while fostering a culture of creativity and risk-taking.
Main Responsibilities
- Open Innovation Leadership: Conduct technological watch, identify key emerging technologies, assess innovation opportunities, and select strategic partners including start-ups, academics, and technology providers.
- Project Management: Define project objectives and targets, animate creativity meetings, establish efficient tools and methodologies (design thinking, rapid prototyping, proof of concept), manage milestones, and validate deliverables.
- Team Leadership: Allocate work packages, functionally manage internal and external team members, encourage initiatives, and foster a culture that accepts calculated risks and learning from failures.
- Customer Engagement: Communicate with internal and external customers, collect innovation insights from customer teams, participate in industry events, and feed the innovation pipeline.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all open innovation activities comply with Valeo procedures and standards, and protect intellectual property through proper documentation and mining.
- Technology Transfer: Organize and manage smooth transitions of validated innovations to business units (P3 or P2 phases).
Key Requirements
- Strong project management expertise with experience leading R&D or innovation initiatives
- Proficiency in innovation methodologies including design thinking, rapid prototyping, and proof of concept development
- Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, and partner with external technology providers and start-ups
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across internal and external audiences
- Knowledge of intellectual property protection and innovation procedures
- Team leadership experience with ability to motivate and manage diverse, cross-functional teams
