About the Role
As a Senior Systems Engineer at Harmattan AI, you will own the complete architecture, system definition, and implementation of autonomous robotic defense systems from concept through field deployment. You will translate mission requirements into robust system-level designs, coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, and ensure overall system performance, reliability, and mission success.
Key Responsibilities
- Transform system requirements into comprehensive architectural solutions and technical specifications
- Lead cross-functional design coordination across mechanical, electrical, software, guidance/navigation/control, and machine learning teams
- Conduct feasibility studies, trade-off analyses, and system-level simulations to guide critical technical decisions
- Oversee system integration, prototyping, and validation activities to ensure performance targets are achieved
- Drive design and architecture reviews to maintain consistency between requirements, design, and testing
- Implement and enhance processes for requirements traceability, system documentation, and validation workflows
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of systems engineering experience in robotics, aerospace, or defense sectors
- Master's degree in Engineering (any discipline); PhD preferred
- Proven track record leading complete system lifecycles from concept through prototype to validation
- Strong expertise in system architecture, requirements engineering, and trade-off analysis
- Broad engineering knowledge spanning mechanical, electrical, and embedded systems
- Demonstrated experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing technical interfaces
- Rigorous, structured, mission-driven mindset with strong analytical capabilities
- Excellent communication and technical documentation skills
- Bonus: Experience with unmanned aerial systems (UAS) or defense applications
