About the Role
The Tendering Engineer manages the complete bid process for Grid Automation projects, from analyzing customer requirements to submitting competitive proposals. You will deliver accurate technical solutions for substation automation, protection, and control systems, often packaged with Telecom and M&D components. This role is critical for securing profitable projects through disciplined tender governance and strong technical judgment.
Main Responsibilities
- Proposals Management: Conduct technical analysis of customer needs and RFQs to define optimized products, services, and solutions using DS Agile, G500, GPG, AAA portfolios, Cyber Security, MiCOM, and Multilin products. Ensure compliance with technical specifications and tender requirements.
- Risk Management: Identify and flag key risks, develop mitigation plans, and maintain a Risk & Opportunity register. Manage Return of Experience (ROE) implementation and ensure technical derogations and approvals are properly documented.
- Bid Process Governance: Oversee complete bid management phases ensuring compliance with company policies. Conduct internal tender reviews with stakeholders, manage timelines, and conduct transfer meetings to hand over documents to operations.
- Costing & Pricing Analysis: Review and analyze cost and price preparation, maintain tendering hit rates, and challenge product and delivery costs. Perform commercial and technical win-loss analysis of bids.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Support sales teams in commercial and technical meetings with customers. Respond to technical clarifications and present solutions. Support order booking and ensure budget margins are maintained.
- Site Assessments: Ensure completion of site assessments for brownfield and existing substations. Maintain typical circuits, schemes, and solutions in the Tendering Tool for future offerings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3 years of experience in tendering, commercial, or engineering functions
- Comprehensive knowledge of Grid Automation Business, including Protection and DCS/SCS systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Willingness to travel internationally up to 10-15% of the time as needed
