About the Role

Harmattan AI seeks a hands-on Integration Software Engineer to develop, validate, and harden software interfaces for autonomous defense systems. You will build robust connectors that enable seamless integration of third-party and customer-provided data streams into our core product line.

This role requires a focused, skilled coder who specializes in systems integration rather than a generalist. You will own multi-data-stream integration scopes, operating with a reusable-capability mindset to make each new integration faster and more reliable. You sit at a critical architectural boundary: ensuring data flows correctly into the system while integration engineering teams interpret it, and deployment engineers manage site installation.

This position is primarily office-based with episodic travel to customer operational sites for integration validation and commissioning.

Main Responsibilities

  • Rigorously analyze third-party data interfaces and define how external data feeds robustly flow into software architecture
  • Design, code, and deploy critical software interfaces and backend connectors to ingest and translate raw external data into expected internal formats
  • Manage complex data ingestion architectures ensuring high performance across data formatting, framing, coordinate transformations, timing, and error handling
  • Test integrations end-to-end against data simulators and travel to field sites to verify real-world correctness, latency bounds, and operational reliability
  • Harden developed integrations and fold durable, reusable capabilities into the core product baseline
  • Build automated regression testing workflows to ensure new product releases never break active deployed connections

Key Requirements

  • Strong academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, or highly quantitative discipline
  • Deep practical experience in software engineering with focus on systems integration, backend data-interface engineering, and connector development (C++ or Rust preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience with structured data feeds, framing/parsing algorithms, real-time streaming, or embedded data-exchange protocols
  • Capacity to handle large-scale complex systems spanning multiple subsystems and third-party interfaces
  • Highly comfortable in Linux environments; proficient at deploying, configuring, and debugging software stacks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence diverse stakeholders from junior engineers to senior executives
  • Professional working proficiency in English; additional regional languages a strong asset
  • Willingness to conduct episodic travel for on-site validation and work directly with customer technical teams

  • Direct experience integrating third-party data streams or hardware-adjacent devices
