About the Role
Join Hostaway, an AI-powered vacation rental management platform trusted by 20,000+ property managers worldwide, as a Staff Product Designer for Mobile. This is a senior individual contributor role on the mobile team, working with a PM, an EM, and 4 engineers building on React Native.
Property managers run their businesses from their phones—approving bookings, messaging guests, and solving problems at any hour. Your mission is to give the mobile app a coherent design and identity that serves operators ranging from single-property hosts to enterprise teams managing thousands of units.
How We Design
Our design source of truth is code, not Figma. Designers on this team prototype and iterate in Claude Code against our real design system. If you already work this way or are excited to move in that direction, you'll thrive here. If you prefer Figma-first workflows, this may not be the right fit.
What You'll Work On in Your First Year
- Revamp the entire mobile application to match Hostaway's new design language, including critical features like the Multi Listing Calendar view for managing reservations
- Design for three main personas: property management teams, property owners, and operations teams for cleaning and maintenance—each with distinct needs
- Integrate AI into user workflows to surface important information at the right time and improve daily business operations
What Success Looks Like
- At 6 months: Ship the mobile application revamp with the new design language; become the go-to decision-maker for design trade-offs on the mobile team
- At 12 months: Define a clear design direction for the app with measurable improvements in adoption and retention across key user segments
Required Experience & Skills
- Shipped native mobile products where you made key product and design decisions, not just executed them
- Strong judgment on platform conventions—knowing when to follow iOS and Android patterns and when to break them
- Prototype in code or actively moving in that direction; use AI tools with clear opinions on where they help
- Run your own research and turn complex B2B workflows into simple mobile experiences
- Influence teams through evidence and influence, not authority
Nice to Have
- B2B SaaS or operational tools experience (scheduling, logistics, field service, marketplaces)
- Experience designing for both business users and their customers in one product
